What the Doctor Said was a small collection of illustrated significant moments that I’d experienced with healthcare professionals. The project was later compiled into a handmade zine.
My aim was to raise awareness of the varying levels of care, attentiveness, and compassion that patients can receive from healthcare professionals. Although the medical outcome may be the same regardless, I wanted to highlight the significant moments in which I’d felt particularly cared for, or particularly let down by my local GP practice, to show to difference that bedside manner can make to the patient’s overall experience.
